RolexGMT-Master II

Purchased from a reputed UK-based authorised dealer, this 2019 Rolex GMT-Master II ‘Root Beer’ is being auctioned as a full set by its original owner. A much-sought after reference amongst Rolex enthusiasts, the watch comes with its original display box and outer sleeve, and a set of documents including the user manual and proof of Rolex’s official five-year warranty, which covers the watch until 2024. Furthermore, the owner has included the watch’s swing tags as part of the set. There are some light wear marks on the watch’s case lugs and bracelet, however, it is reported to be in good working order and thus complies with the seller’s ‘A’ grading. 

This watch is being managed by Watch Collecting for the duration of the auction and is being held in a secure third-party facility. Watch Collecting will release the watch to the successful bidder after the vendor confirms they have received payment.

Measuring 40mm in diameter, this GMT-Master II ‘Root Beer’ is finished entirely in a blend of polished and brushed 18K rose gold. The ‘Root Beer’ moniker comes from the watch’s black and brown bi-directional bezel, which is a nod to vintage Rolex models, and this aesthetically desirable design feature provides contrast to the rose gold case and bracelet. The black dial provides the wearer with superior legibility thanks to its simple triangle, circle, and rectangle-shaped hour markers, whilst the watch’s secondary time zone is marked by the reference’s traditional arrow-tipped hand. The 18K rose gold ‘Oyster’ bracelet provides the watch with a sense of sturdiness, and is finished with polished centre links. The watch is powered by Rolex’s 3285 calibre, which was developed entirely in-house by the brand and is exclusive to the most recent generation of the GMT-Master II introduced in 2018. Regarded for its sturdiness and accuracy, this fully-automatic movement has a power reserve of up to 70 hours.

Originally created as Rolex’s pilot’s watch, the GMT-Master II is one of the brand’s most popular watches thanks to its robust nature, and dual-time keeping properties. The GMT-Master II family is also home to some of Rolex’s most memorable colour configurations, which - along with the ‘Root Beer’ - include the ‘Pepsi’, the ‘Batman’, and the ‘Hulk’.
