Sell it with usOffered by a private collector, this 2018 Rolex Daytona ref. 116506 is presented with its display box, outer sleeve, warranty card in holder, booklet and swing tag. The watch is under the manufacturer's five-year warranty until 2023. The vendor advises the watch is near perfect condition, grading it as ‘AA’, and the images appear to be consistent with their assessment.
Launched in 2013 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Cosmograph, the ref. 116506 is the first series-production Daytona to be offered in platinum. All previous platinum examples were special creations in vanishingly small numbers.
This example brings a decidedly luxurious feel to Rolex’s iconic motorsports watch. The case measures 40mm in diameter and is paired with an Oyster bracelet - both of which are crafted from platinum. The ice blue dial, a colour reserved exclusively for Rolex’s platinum offerings, is particularly eye-catching with its baguette diamond hour markers. The “Cerachrom” bezel is finished in chestnut brown and engraved with a tachymeter scale as a nod to the model’s motor racing heritage.
Housed inside the case is Rolex’s first in-house chronograph movement. The calibre 4130 was introduced in 2000 and has powered the Daytona ever since. It’s equipped with an impressive 72-hour power reserve in addition to being chronometer certified. A screw-down crown and pushers afford 100m of waterproofness and further add to its versatility.
