SUMMARY

Discontinued in 2021, the reference 216570 was first launched in 2011 and ushered in a new generation of Explorer II design. In a rare move for Rolex, they directly drew on their past by incorporating the orange 24-hour hand from the original 1970s ref. 1655. Everything else was beefed up, including a 42mm case and a ‘maxi-dial’ with larger hands and indices. The watch we see here is the ‘Polar’ Explorer II. This dial configuration has become increasingly popular amongst collectors next to the numerous black-dialled alternatives. It’s also unique as the only white-dialled Rolex sports watch with a date.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.

Any watch not covered by a current sales or service warranty should be considered as potentially requiring a service, even if in full working order on the date of purchase.

The description of this auction lot is, to the best of the seller's knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Watch Collecting requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller, and performs a level of due diligence.
