ABOUT THIS WATCH

  • The Yacht-Master was introduced in 1992 as a more opulent and upscale alternative to the Submariner
  • It’s characterised by a case more rounded and fluid than the slab-sided shape of other Rolex sports watches
  • In 1999, a steel and platinum version was launched in multiple size options, including the reference 168622 we see here.
  • The steel case case measures 35mm in diameter and features a bi-directional rotating bezel made from platinum that is media blasted with raised and polished markers
  • Also fashioned from platinum is the dial, which features a red seconds hand and script to add a hint of colour to the monochromatic look
  • Attached to the case is an Oyster bracelet with polished centre links and a fold-over safety clasp
  • The watch is powered by the tried and tested calibre 2235, which has a 48-hour power reserve and is COSC-certified
