SUMMARY
The Rolex Cellini Prince is an exceptional watch amongst contemporary Rolex production for three reasons. It is the only model to sport a rectangular case, the only model to feature a manual-wound movement, and up until the new platinum Daytona ref. 126506 was the only model to feature a display case back. The Cellini Prince refers back to the rectangular watches introduced by Rolex in the late 1920s with an innovative case layout that allowed a larger balance wheel and greater accuracy. The full 18K yellow gold case is matched with a gold Clou de Paris dial as well as gold hands and Roman numeral hour markers. The movement within is the calibre 7040, a COSC-certified chronometer calibre developed specifically for the Prince and is finished with a matching decorative motif to the dial.
