Sell it with usOffered by a UK-based dealer, this 2006 Rolex Daytona ref. 116519 is presented with its display box, outer box, warranty card, swing tag and booklet. The vendor advises the watch is in good working order and has graded it ‘A’ for condition. The images appear to reflect that assessment, showing only light signs of wear including hairline marks on the case, bezel and clasp. A factory sticker is in place on the case back.
The standout feature of this ref. 116519 is its sodalite dial, which is both rare and desirable in the world of Daytonas. This ornamental gemstone takes its name from the high sodium content and has a pitted and speckled matte-blue finish. Adding to the watch’s visual appeal are applique white gold markers and the red “DAYTONA” script that subtly curves around the sub-register at 6 o’clock. The 40mm case is fashioned from solid 18K white gold with an engraved tachymeter bezel as a nod to the Daytona’s motor racing heritage. Its versatile dimensions and svelte profile make it suitable for a range of wrist sizes.
The watch is paired with a factory blue crocodile leather strap that nicely complements the sodalite’s distinctive hue. It’s linked to a white gold Rolex Oysteclasp.
Housed inside the case is Rolex’s first in-house chronograph movement. The calibre 4130 was introduced in 2000 and has powered the Daytona ever since. It’s equipped with an impressive 72-hour power reserve in addition to being chronometer certified. A screw-down crown and pushers afford 100m of waterproofness and further add to its versatility.
