SUMMARY
The Daytona ref. 116520 has an interesting provenance, being among the first generation to have an in-house movement and the last to have a steel bezel. Since it was replaced in 2016 with a new version sporting Rolex’s Cerachrom bezel, this reference has steadily climbed in value as collectors have come to appreciate its classic and timeless styling.
The instantly recognisable case of the Daytona ref. 116520 measures 40mm in diameter and Its ergonomic design is suited to a range of wrist sizes. Paired with an Oyster bracelet, and featuring a tachymeter scale on the bezel, the watch maintains a distinctly sporty character. This example features a white dial, offering a refreshing alternative to the myriad of black-dialed Rolex sports watches. Silver sub-registers display running seconds and chronograph timing, while the red ‘DAYTONA’ script curved around the register at 6 o’clock provides a subtle hint of colour.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
