ABOUT THIS WATCH

• ​Produced between 1989 and 2011, the Explorer II ref. 16570 is a no-nonsense tool watch with a kind of rugged charm no longer seen in modern Rolexes 
• It sits in the sweet spot between modern reliability and classic styling reminiscent of vintage pieces  
• This particularly desirable example is known by collectors as ‘Chicchi Di Mais’,
• The name references the tritium luminous material that has aged to a characterful golden tone, giving the watch plenty of personality and contrasting nicely with the ‘polar’ white dial 
• Other distinctive aesthetic touches include the red GMT hand and brushed 24-hour bezel which allow the wearer to track two time zones simultaneously 
• The 40mm size is a departure from the larger dimensions seen on contemporary examples and offers suitability for a wide range of wrist sizes
