ABOUT THIS WATCH
- The ref. 1680 holds great historical significance, being the first Submariner to feature a date aperture
- This key change took this strictly tool-oriented model line in a different direction, with the date and its ‘cyclops’ magnifier defining the modern-day Submariner
- Produced from 1967 to 1980 (approx.), the model is broadly split into two generations, one with red Submariner script, and the second in white
- As a member of the latter, this example also features other defining characteristics from this era including the packed four-line script and matte dial
- Internally, the watch is powered by the in-house chronometer-certified calibre 1575 movement
