SUMMARY
The 5402 is the original reference in this long-running and iconic sports watch. While many iterations and variations have been introduced since, the form and dimensions are exactly how designer Gerald Genta intended. Referred to as the “Jumbo” as its 39mm case was considered oversize for the times, the angular case is expertly hand-finished with a blend of brushed and polished surfaces throughout. Housed inside the case is the AP calibre 2121. Derived from Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 920 calibre, this legendary movement is one of the highest-regarded ultra-thin movements ever created. This particular example is an ‘A-series’ which is highly sought-after being among the very first examples ever produced, and one of only 1,937 sold in total. This lot represents a great opportunity for any AP collector or enthusiast to acquire one of the first examples of this revered and iconic model line.
