ABOUT THIS WATCH
- Introduced in 2013 to mark 50 years since the launch of its famous chronograph, the reference 116506 was the first series-production Daytona to be offered in platinum
- The dial’s ice blue finish is used exclusively by Rolex for its platinum watches
- Complementing this distinctive colouring is a brown Cerachrom bezel and matching brown chronograph sub-registers
- Despite its significant heft, the Daytona’s case is both ergonomic and wrist-friendly thanks to a height of just 12.2mm and a width of 40mm
- Internally, the watch is powered by Rolex’s chronometer-certified calibre 4130, an automatic movement with a 72-hour power reserve
- A screw-down crown and pushers help to deliver 100m of waterproofness, further enhancing the Daytona’s versatility
- After being superseded in early 2023, this already-exclusive reference has continued to reach new heights in collectability
