ABOUT THIS WATCH
- The Royal Oak Chronograph launched in 1998 as a more functional and sporty variant of Audemars Piguet’s iconic sports watch
- Since then, the brand has experimented with a range of metals and finishes, and introduced a number of variants
- Last year it launched this all-yellow-gold limited edition of just 202 examples in collaboration with international fashion designer Matthew Williams
- The counters and indices have been removed from the dial, creating an exceptionally pure design
- The dial's colour is also matched to the case and bracelet, adding to the watch's minimalist aesthetic
- Williams' 1017 A L Y X 9SM insignia is positioned down at 6 o'clock while the applied Audemars Piguet font sits proudly at 12
- The Royal Oak's angular case measures 41mm in diameter, offering plenty of wrist presence and catering to more contemporary tastes
- On the underside, a sapphire case back displays the calibre 4409 movement, an in-house automatic movement which is handsomely decorated and features a unique gold winding rotor with 1017 A L Y X 9SM script
- An intriguing collaboration that delivers a fresh perspective on the Royal Oak without sacrificing this historical model line's unique character
