Sell it with usThis 2022 Rolex Explorer II is offered by a private collector and is accompanied by its box, warranty card, booklets, swing tags and bezel protector. Rolex’s five-year international warranty provides cover until 2027. The watch is presented in new, unworn condition and is within the bounds of the seller’s ‘AAA’ grading. Factory stickers are in place on the crown guard, case back and clasp. The seller notes that some thread or lint is visible on the lug in image six of the photo roll and confirms there are no marks or signs of wear on the watch.
The featured watch has a black dial, (Rolex currently offer this model either with a black or a white dial as options at purchase), with a 42mm ‘Oystersteel’ case. Included is the 24-hour graduated bezel and orange 24-hour indicator hand, as well as a second time zone feature. The crystal is sapphire with the distinctive Cyclops lens over the date. The dial hour markers and hands are coated in Rolex ‘Chromalight’ giving a blue luminescence in low light or dark conditions. The watch movement is Rolex’s own ‘in-house’, calibre: 3285. This is an automatic self-winding watch movement with a power reserve of approximately 70 hours, once fully wound up. The water resistance is quoted as 100 meters. The Oyster bracelet is made of ‘Oystersteel’ and has a folding ‘Oysterlock’ safety clasp and a 5mm comfort extension link.
The Rolex Explorer range of watches can trace its heritage back to 1953 when Rolex named a watch specifically made for explorers and scientists as the ‘Explorer’. As such the Explorer range was one of the watch designs that have helped define the concept of the ‘tool watch’. In 1971 Rolex introduced the first Explorer II model, which featured the now distinctive orange 24 -hour hand that allows the hours to be read against a 24-hour graduated bezel. To mark the model’s 50th anniversary in 2021 Rolex introduced the current model reference: 226570.
