Sell it with usPurchased new by the vendor, this 2022 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ‘50th Anniversary’ is a celebration of one of the greatest designs in watch history. The watch is presented as a full set, and is accompanied by its original box with outer sleeve, warranty card, instruction manuals, and three spare bracelet links. There are no visible marks on the case or bracelet, and the watch’s condition is consistent with the vendor’s ‘AA’ grading.
An alchemy of brushed and polished stainless steel, this 2022 watch is a celebratory reference created to mark 50 years of Audemars Piguet’s iconic Royal Oak design. The ‘Bleu Nuit’ Tapisserie dial and 37mm-wide case are nods to the original Royal Oak of 1972, as is the integrated stainless steel bracelet. As per the AP line, the luxurious white gold-applied hour markers and hands are finished in a luminescent coating. What earmarks this watch as a 50-year celebration of the Royal Oak is the special edition ‘50 Years’ winding rotor. This distinguishing design element is only available on Royal Oaks manufactured in 2022, and is visible through the transparent screw-down rear caseback.
This exclusive winding rotor is part of AP’s 5900 calibre, which comprises 29 jewels. This self-winding movement has a power reserve of 60 hours, and is made up of just 86 components.
Conceived by legendary watch designer Gerald Genta in 1972, the Royal Oak was a pioneer for luxury stainless steel sports watches. Its instantly recognisable angular shape has become iconic in the world of Swiss watchmaking.
