SUMMARY

While much of the recent attention around Audemars Piguet has been focused on its Royal Oak line, the ‘Holy Trinity’ watchmaker surprised collectors by releasing this interesting and historically faithful ‘[Re]Master01 as a limited series of 500 pieces in 2020. The watch pays tribute to the 1940s reference 1533 of which only nine were made, with just three in two tone, as reflected in this modern reinterpretation. The 40mm case captures the spirit of yesteryear with all of the modern fit and finish we’ve come to expect from AP, and with its mix of steel and gold and nuanced lugs, the watch is both characterful and handsome. On the underside, a large sapphire crystal displays the calibre 4409. This contemporary flyback chronograph movement is expertly hand finished with a decorated rose gold winding mass.
