RolexExplorer II

Offered by a private collector, this 2021 Rolex Explorer II ref. 226570 was purchased new by the vendor from an authorised dealer. It’s accompanied by the box, warranty card, booklet, bezel protector, swing tag, and spare links. Rolex’s five-year warranty covers the watch until 2026. The vendor advises the watch is in like-new condition, and consistent with their ‘AA’ grading.

The reference 226570 Explorer II was announced in April last year to tie in with the model’s 50th anniversary. Despite much speculation about design revisions, Rolex kept the updates subtle but purposeful. The 42mm case has had some excess bulk shaved off the sides, leaving a slightly slimmer and more refined profile. The bracelet is a little wider where it meets the lugs which gives the watch a more seamless look. 



The dial remains largely unchanged except for a swap from matte black to a lacquered gloss finish, and the hands, which were blacked out at the centre on the previous reference, are now completely polished 18K white gold. Technically speaking, this new reference benefits from Rolex’s latest generation calibre 3285. Shared with the GMT-Master II, this movement features a “Chronergy” escapement delivering increased levels of anti-magnetism and a 70-hour power reserve.
