SUMMARY
The Explorer is an incredibly important watch in Rolex’s catalogue, forming the foundation for all the company’s professional models when it launched in 1953. In 2021, the 36mm case was re-introduced at the Watches and Wonders showl, after a decade in more bloated dimensions. The Explorer was originally designed for mountaineering and is therefore built with robustness in mind. Despite its rugged underpinnings, the Explorer’s timeless aesthetic allows the watch to cross over into more formal settings seamlessly. Since the release of the original Explorer, the piece has retained its distinctive no-nonsense dial layout displaying Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The watch is secured to the wrist via a satin-finished Oyster bracelet.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
Any watch not covered by a current sales or service warranty should be considered as potentially requiring a service, even if in full working order on the date of purchase.
