The Explorer is an incredibly important watch in Rolex’s catalogue, forming the foundation for all the company’s professional models when it launched in 1953. In 2021, the 36mm case was re-introduced after a decade in more bloated dimensions. The Explorer was originally designed for mountaineering and is therefore built with robustness in mind. Despite this, its timeless looks allow the watch to seamlessly cross over into more formal settings. The Explorer has maintained a similar aesthetic over the years, with its distinctive no-nonsense dial layout displaying Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The watch is secured to the wrist via a satin-finished Oyster bracelet. Housed underneath the screw-down case back is Rolex’s latest generation calibre 3230, a self-winding movement that features Chronometer certification, a 70-hour power reserve and is tested after casing to a tolerance of +2 to -2 seconds per day.

This 2021 example is presented in new, unworn condition and is within the seller’s AAA grading. Included in the sale are the original box, guarantee, manual and swing tag.
