SUMMARY
The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms was initially developed with elite French divers and is both iconic and incredibly important in the history of dive watches. Launched in 1953, it was the first to incorporate a uni-directional rotating bezel - beating out the Rolex Submariner. This modern iteration pays tribute to the original but introduces some modern technical updates and contemporary sizing. The large 45mm case offers plenty of wrist presence and features a sapphire-capped bezel insert, which is both functional in its scratch resistance and aesthetically pleasing in its form. Blancpain’s expertise are displayed on the dial as well, with intricate guilloche radiating off the vivid blue dial. Internally, the watch is powered by the calibre 1315, which is equipped with an impressive 120-hour power reserve.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
