SUMMARY
As Rolex’s most hardcore diver, the D-Blue takes on all of the Deepsea’s technical capabilities including the impressive 12,800 feet / 3,900 metres of waterproofness but introduces some aesthetic changes that set it apart from the standard model. These include a distinctive blue-to-black gradient face and “DEEPSEA” script that has been moved to the bottom half of the dial and coloured bright green to match Cameron’s submarine.
The Deepsea makes its intentions clear as a robust dive watch with a stainless steel case measuring 44mm in diameter and over 17.5mm thick. Despite the size, Rolex has fitted the watch with a titanium case back to reduce weight and enhance comfort. The accompanying Oyster bracelet features a Fliplock wetsuit extension and Glidelock clasp, providing the convenience of 15mm of tool-free adjustment. Powering the watch is Rolex’s latest generation calibre 3235 movement that has a 70-hour power reserve, chronometer certification, and is tested after casing to a tolerance of +2 to -2 seconds per day.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
Any watch not covered by a current sales or service warranty should be considered as potentially requiring a service, even if in full working order on the date of purchase.
