This one-owner Rolex Yacht-Master 42 ref. 226659 was purchased new by the vendor in 2019 at a Rolex authorised dealer. It’s being offered as a ‘no reserve’ lot and is accompanied by the box, warranty card, sleeve, booklet and swing tag. The vendor advises the watch is in excellent working order, and its condition appears to be within their ‘AA’ grading.

In 2019, Rolex released the Yacht-Master 42 ref. 226659, adding a more contemporary case size to the model line. The polished white gold case has substantial wrist presence, adding 2mm in diameter to previous iterations. In keeping with other precious metal models in the range, the rotating bezel is fitted with a ceramic insert that’s media blasted with polished markers and numerals. The gloss black dial features gold indices and hands filled with Rolex’s proprietary “Chromalight” luminescence - providing high levels of contrast and legibility.

Housed underneath the screw-down case back is Rolex’s latest generation calibre 3235, equipped with a 70-hour power reserve. It’s also chronometer certified and tested after casing to a tolerance of +2 to -2 seconds per day. The watch is secured to the wrist via Rolex’s “Oysterflex” rubber strap, which features a flexible titanium and nickel alloy blade through the centre for robustness and durability.

The Yacht-Master was introduced in 1992 as a more opulent and upscale alternative to the Submariner. It’s characterised by a case more rounded and fluid than the slab-sided shape of other Rolex sports watches, and the range has continued to expand to introduce new styles, sizes and materials.
