Sell it with usThis one-owner 2019 Rolex Air-King ref. 116900 was purchased new by the vendor from an authorised dealer and is presented with its display box, outer box, warranty card, booklets, swing tag and original purchase receipt. In addition to the factory bracelet, a Rubber B strap is also included as part of the lot. Rolex’s five-year international warranty provides until 2024. The vendor advises the watch is in good working order and has graded it ‘A’ for condition. The images appear to be consistent with their assessment, showing some light signs of wear including a small scuff on the bottom-left lug.
Released at Baselworld 2016, the Rolex Air-King reference 116900 surprised enthusiasts and collectors with its unusual dial design and substantial size increase. The revised case measures 40mm and is borrowed from the Milgauss, with both watches also sharing the same movement. Inside the Air-King beats calibre 3131, a Chronometer-certified automatic movement with a 48-hour power reserve.
The dial is inspired by the Bloodhound supersonic car project, for which Rolex created the cockpit gauges. Crisp white Arabic numerals at each five-minute interval break up the 3-6-9 “Explorer” style layout. For the first time on any Rolex model, the company logo and wording appear in green and yellow., making the Air-King truly unique within the Rolex catalogue.
Currently fitted to the case is a Rubber B strap, which integrates Rolex’s factory clasp, including the Easylink extension for 5mm of tool-free adjustment. The original factory Oyster bracelet is included in the lot.
