Sell it with usThis 2019 Panerai Luminor ‘California’ 8 Days is presented as a full-set and is for auction through its original owner. This iconic divers’ watch - reference PAM00779 - is accompanied by its wooden display box, instruction manual, and warranty card. Panerai’s extended eight-year warranty covers the watch through to 2027. Also included is an additional rubber strap, watch tool and bezel protector. There are no markings on this one-owner watch’s case or strap, thus placing it within the bounds of its ‘AA’ grading.
This ‘California’ 8 Days incorporates a full range of features that cover Panerai’s history. The watch’s iconic 44m case is fashioned from Diamond-Like Carbon, or “DLC”-coated titanium, and houses a simple-yet-fascinating ‘California’ dial adorned with luminescent Roman and Arabic numerals. This interesting dial layout is a throwback to the early ‘Radomir’ watches the ItaloSwiss company issued to the Italian Navy during the 1930s and 1940s. Attached to the robust case is a brown leather strap, which enhances its retro design and provides it with a purposeful, masculine appearance. Given the Luminor is a divers’ watch, this California 8 Days is water resistant to 300 metres.
Powering this reference is Panerai’s P.5000 calibre, which lies beneath its screw-down stainless steel rear casing. This hand-wound movement has a huge power reserve of 192 hours (or, eight days) thanks to its use of two coupled spring barrels. Calibre P.5000 was introduced in 2013 and was developed fully in-house by Panerai.
Just 2,000 of these California 8 Days were produced. This particular watch is numbered 1,215.
