Sell it with usFor auction through a private seller, this 2017 Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea is presented as a full set. The watch comes with its original green display box and white outer sleeve, plus official documentation including its user manual, service booklet, and proof of Rolex warranty. Further additions to the ensemble include a set of Rolex-embossed bracelet extension links for wearing atop a diving suit. Despite its age, the reference is in remarkable condition and has no visible marks on its case, crystal, or bracelet. The vendor reports the watch to be in perfect working order, and the information and images they have provided appear to correlate with their ‘AA’ grading assessment.
Designed to commemorate James Cameron’s historic solo dive to the deepest place on earth - the Mariana Trench - the Deepsea is the Rolex Sea-Dweller in its ultimate form. Measuring a sturdy 44mm in diameter and 17.5mm in thickness, the Deepsea boasts a number of aesthetic changes over the standard Sea-Dweller. Beneath the domed crystal, the ‘D-Blue’ blue-to-black dial was designed to reflect the ocean’s surface to the deepest place on earth, whilst the ‘DEEPSEA’ script is finished in luminous green as a nod to the colour of the submarine piloted by Cameron. As a diving tool, the Deepsea is a truly impressive feat of watch engineering. It is water resistant to 3,900 metres (12,800 feet) and a helium escape valve is located on the left flank. Furthermore, the watch’s bracelet can be adjusted to fit over any diving suit.
Beneath the weight-saving titanium rear case beats Rolex’s tried and tested 3135 calibre, which is chronometer-certified and equipped with a 48-hour power reserve.
The Sea-Dweller launched in 1967 and was designed by Rolex with the exploration of the deep in mind. It was also the first civilian watch to be fitted with a helium escape valve. Now well into its fifth decade, the Sea-Dweller is highly regarded for its timeless design and robust nature.
