SUMMARY
Released at Baselworld 2016, the Rolex Air-King reference 116900 surprised enthusiasts and collectors with its unusual dial design and substantial size increase. The revised case measures 40mm and is borrowed from the Milgauss, with both watches also sharing the same movement. Inside the Air-King beats calibre 3131, a chronometer-certified automatic movement with a 48-hour power reserve. The dial is inspired by the Bloodhound supersonic car project, for which Rolex created the cockpit gauges. Crisp white Arabic numerals at each five-minute interval break up the 3-6-9 ‘Explorer’-style layout. For the first time on any Rolex model, the company logo and wording appear in green and yellow, making the Air-King truly unique within the Rolex catalogue. Attached to the case is a satin-finished Oyster bracelet, with an integrated Easylink extension in the clasp that provides the wearer with 5mm of tool-free adjustment.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
