Auctioned as a full set through a private vendor, this 2017 Audemars Piguet Offshore Diver comes with its original lacquered wood presentation box and outer sleeve, instruction manual, official warranty, and swing tag. The watch shows some very light signs of wear and its condition appears to be within the bounds of the vendor’s ‘A’ grading.

A rugged interpretation of the iconic AP Royal Oak, the case of this purposeful diver’s watch measures 42mm in diameter and is satin finished with finely polished bevels highlighting the watchmaker’s attention to detail. Beneath the sapphire crystal is a black ‘Grande Tapisserie’ dial, which features a rotating inner bezel with a dive-time measurement for undersea exploits. The dial is given a further dose of luxury thanks to the white gold hands with their luminescent coating. Contributing to the watch’s overall robust design are the rubber-clad screw-locked crowns, which match the black rubber strap. The watch is water resistant to a depth of 300 metres, or 1,000 feet.

Beneath the watch’s screw-down rear beats AP’s calibre 3120. This self-winding movement comprises 40 jewels and has an impressive power reserve of 60 hours. Developed in-house, calibre 3120 is highly-recognisable thanks to its 22k rose gold rotor, which is marked by the crests of the Audemars and Piguet families.

The AP Royal Oak Offshore Diver was introduced in 2010 and remains a heavy-hitter in the world of luxury divers. At launch, it was considered to be the first major step in the design of the Royal Oak since it debuted in 1972.
