Sell it with usThe ref. 116610LV Submariner, better known in collectors’ circles as “The Hulk”, was launched in 2010 and was the spiritual successor to the 50th-anniversary “Kermit”. Never more popular than it is currently, it’s seen a meteoric rise in collectability, especially since its discontinuation in 2020.
Thanks to the squared-off lugs synonymous with modern Submariner design, the watch’s 40mm “super” case wears with more wrist presence than the dimensions would suggest. The uni-directional ceramic insert and dial are both finished in green, the latter with a striking sunburst finish. While the Submariner has well and truly moved into the realms of luxury since its tool-watch beginnings, it hasn’t lost any of its utility. The screw-down trip-lock crown affords 300m of water resistance, and the large white gold indices and hands are filled with Rolex’s proprietary “Chromalight” luminescence for superior legibility.
Housed underneath the screw-down case back is the tried and tested calibre 3135. This long-running movement is both Chronometer-certified and tested after casing to a tolerance of +2 to -2 seconds per day. The watch is secured to the wrist by a satin-finished Oyster bracelet and equipped with Rolex’s Glidelock extension system that provides up to 20mm of tool-free adjustment.
This 2016 example shows only light signs of wear, and its condition is within the bounds of the seller’s A grading. The sale includes the watch’s box, warranty card, sleeve, booklet and swing tag.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
