Offered by a private vendor, this 2013 Rolex Submariner is being auctioned alongside its box, warranty card, a Rolex Service Centre warranty card from 2017 and a two-year warranty card from Goldsmith’s dated the 7th of April 2022. The vendor advises the watch was serviced by the jeweller in April and has protective stickers on the flanks and case back. The watch’s condition appears to be consistent with vendors ‘AA’ grading.

The ref. 116610LN presents in a 40mm steel case which wears with more wrist presence than its dimensions would suggest, thanks to large squared-off lugs synonymous with modern Rolex design. While the Submariner has well and truly moved into the realms of luxury since its tool-watch beginnings, it hasn’t lost any of its utility. The screw-down trip-lock crown affords 300m of water resistance, and the large white gold indices and hands are filled with Rolex’s proprietary “Chromalight” luminescence for superior legibility.

Housed underneath the screw-down case back is the tried and tested calibre 3135. This long-running movement is both Chronometer-certified and tested after casing to a tolerance of +2 to -2 seconds per day. The watch is secured to the wrist by a satin-finished Oyster bracelet and equipped with Rolex’s Glidelock extension system that provides up to 20mm of tool-free adjustment.

Introduced at Baselworld 2010, the ref. 116610LN defined a new era of Submariner design. The world’s most recognised dive watch was updated with some significant changes from its predecessor, bringing this iconic watch up to date with the latest technology.
