SUMMARY
Discontinued in 2021, the reference 216570 was first launched in 2011 and ushered in a new generation of Explorer II design. In a rare move for Rolex, they directly drew on their past by incorporating the orange 24-hour hand from the original 1970s ref. 1655. Everything else was beefed up, including a 42mm case and a ‘maxi-dial’ with larger hands and indices. This example has a black dial and features hands with painted centre sections - giving the impression they’re floating on the dial. The Explorer II is fast becoming a collectors’ favourite and is a stylistic point of difference in Rolex’s sports watch catalogue.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
Any watch not covered by a current sales or service warranty should be considered as potentially requiring a service, even if in full working order on the date of purchase.
