Sell it with usConceived by legendary watch designer Gerald Genta in 1972, the Royal Oak was a pioneer for luxury stainless steel sports watches. Its instantly recognisable angular shape has become iconic in the world of Swiss watchmaking. This 2012 Dual Time marries Royal Oak design with several practical complications. The dial integrates several finishing techniques, most notably the “tapisserie” pattern, which has become synonymous with the Royal Oak. Smooth recessed sub-dials display the second time zone, date, and power reserve. As a nod to the watch’s sporty nature, luminous material is applied to the markers and hands, further aiding legibility.
One of the Royal Oak’s most traditionally proportioned and wearable variants, the Dual Time’s 39mm case is made from red gold and expertly hand-finished with finely polished bevels on the lug hoods. Further evidence of exquisite finishing can be seen on the polished flanks of the octagonal bezel. The hexagonal screws on the bezel hint at its maritime inspiration and complete the watch’s look. Attached to the case via articulated lug plots is a factory alligator strap with an ‘AP’ logo gold deployant clasp. The watch is powered by the calibre 2329/2846, which is based on Jaeger-LeCoultre’s technically impressive 899 movement.
This 2012 example is presented in worn condition showing light marks on the case and clasp. The inside of the strap shows clear signs of wear. Included in the sale are the box, certificate of guarantee, and manual.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
