SUMMARY

Launched in 2002 to celebrate 30 years of the Royal Oak, this Concept Carbon reference is the luxury watchmaker's ultimate interpretation of its iconic timepiece. Launched in 2008, it’s considered a milestone that marks Audemars Piguet's use of hi-tech materials. The case is crafted from forged carbon and is accompanied by a black ceramic bezel, a blackened titanium case back ring, and a black ceramic screw-locked crown. Unlike the classic Royal Oak with its 'grande tapisserie' dial, the Concept's main plate serves as the dial, and incorporates an unusual linear chronograph that was considered revolutionary at the time of launch. Furthermore, the hand-wound movement, Audemars Piguet's calibre 2895, is equally as groundbreaking with its 237-hour power reserve, which is afforded by the twin-barrel escapement. Despite its futuristic appearance and avant-garde underpinnings, the Concept still retains the original Royal Oak's trademark octagonal screw-down 'porthole' bezel.
