Sell it with usComing for auction through a private seller, this 2016 Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea D-Blue is accompanied by its display box, official Rolex guarantee, user manual, and swing tags. Showing only light signs of wear on the case and bracelet, the watch aligns with the vendor’s ‘A’ condition grading.
Measuring a girthy 44mm in diameter and 17.5mm in thickness, reference 116660 boasts significant wrist presence thanks to its chunky stainless steel case with an accompanying matching ‘Oyster’ bracelet. The ‘James Cameron’ Sea-Dweller boasts an array of aesthetic changes over the standard watch. The most striking alteration is the ‘D-Blue’ blue-to-black gradient dial. Further changes include moving the ‘DEEPSEA’ script to the dial’s bottom half, and colouring it bright green to match the hue of the submarine James Cameron used on his expedition to the Mariana Trench in 2012.
Reference 116660 truly comes into its own in terms of watch engineering. It is waterproof to an impressive 3,900 metres (12,800 feet) and is fitted with a helium escape valve. Furthermore, the watch’s bracelet can be adjusted to fit over any diving suit.
Housed underneath the weight-saving titanium case back is Rolex’s tried and tested 3135 calibre. This robust movement is chronometer certified and equipped with a 48-hour power reserve.
