Offered by a UK-based dealer, this Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ref. 15500OR.OO.1220OR.01 is presented with a travel pouch. The original box and papers are not included. The vendor advises the watch is in good working order, with light marks and swirls visible on the case and bracelet. Its overall condition appears within the bounds of their ‘A’ grading.

This reference is a modern interpretation of one of watchmaking's most iconic models. Originally conceived as a luxury steel watch when it launched in 1972, this precious metal Royal Oak is fashioned entirely from 18K rose gold. The distinctive angular case is sized for contemporary tastes at 41mm, and along with the integrated bracelet, is expertly hand-finished with a blend of brushed and polished surfaces throughout. This attention to detail is illustrated by fine bevels that extend across the case flanks and down the shoulders of each bracelet link.

Adding an interesting texture to the dial is a “Grande Tapiserrie” finish which is synonymous with the model line and cut in-house at Audemars Piguet using a 19th-century lathe. The AP logo, indices and hands are fashioned in rose gold to resist oxidation and tarnish over time. A quick-set date is positioned at 3 o’clock.

Turning the watch over, an exhibition case back reveals the in-house calibre 4302. New for 2019, this automatic movement is elaborately decorated with Côtes de Genève across the bridges. The bi-directional winding rotor is crafted from solid gold, and the power reserve is rated at 70 hours.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
