RolexSea-Dweller

Introduced in 1989 and discontinued in 2009, the Rolex Sea-Dweller 16600 is the longest-lasting reference of the collection and the last to feature an aluminium bezel insert. This 2003 example features a stainless steel case measuring 40mm with a uni-directional bezel. The thick sapphire crystal and helium escape valve help the watch to achieve an impressive 1,220m of waterproofness. One of the much-loved features of these Sea-Dwellers was the lack of a date magnifier.

While Rolex’s decision to exclude this was purely functional, it gave the watch a unique and clean look. The “Swiss Made” print at the bottom of the dial indicates that the hands and indices are filled with Super-LumiNova. Powering the watch is the in-house calibre 3135. This tried and tested movement features Chromomter certification and a 48-hour power reserve.

This example from 2003 is presented in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear. The watch was serviced in 2017 and the sale includes a Rolex Service Centre receipt for this. Also included is the box, swing tags, booklet, and anchor pendant - a collectable accessory that Rolex no longer provides with its dive watches.
