RolexDaytona

This Rolex Daytona is being auctioned along as a watch-only lot. Offered from a trade seller, the watch is from 2001 and is presented with some swirls around the case, bringing it well within its ‘A’ grading.

Marking the beginning of the third generation of the Rolex Daytona, the reference 116519 was launched in 2000 and marked perhaps the biggest update of the line’s history. Moving on from the partnership with Zenith, the reference 116519 introduced the very first in-house chronograph movement; the chronometer-certified calibre 4130 with 72 hours of power reserve.

The instantly recognisable case silhouette measures 40mm in diameter and is crafted from 18K white gold, offering a level of understated luxury and plenty of heft. A fixed bezel displays an engraved tachymeter scale as a nod to the model’s motorsport heritage. The lacquered white dial features silver sub-dials to display the chronograph and running seconds. On this precious metal example, large white gold Arabic numerals mark the hours.
