SUMMARY
Manufactured from 1988 to 1999, the ref. 16700 represents the last generation of the original GMT-Master line that debuted all the way back in 1954. A truly iconic model in Rolex’s catalogue, the instantly recognisable 40mm case has a bi-directional rotating bezel with a red and blue “Pepsi” insert that has since become synonymous with the line. The dial is finished in lacquered black with a magnified date aperture at 3 o’clock and a red GMT hand. This example features the desirable ‘Swiss only’ dial which was only produced for around 12 months between 1998 and 1999.
