Purchased from the original owner, this bi-metal Datejust ref. 16233 dates to 1997. It is offered as a full set including a photograph of Blyth Tait being presented with the watch and a signed letter of authenticity. The watch has no significant marks to the case or bracelet and the case back sticker is still intact placing this watch within the bounds of the seller’s AA grading. 

Blyth Tait is a New Zealand equestrian who has competed at 4 Olympic Games and won 4 medals and 4 eventing gold medals at the World Championships of 1990 and 1998. He was made an MBE in 1993 and retired from competitive riding in 2020. He was presented with this Rolex Datejust for winning the Kentucky International Horse trials in 2000.

With a 36mm Oyster case, the 16233 is perfectly positioned between sportswear and formality. The champagne dial matches the 18k gold fluted bezel and the 18k gold centre links on the fitted Jubilee bracelet. The watch is powered but Rolex calibre 3135, chronometer-certified with 48hrs power reserve.
