Sell it with usOriginally Developed in 1955 as a navigational and dual time-zone aid for globe-trotting pilots, the Rolex GMT-Master and subsequent GMT-Master IIs are icons of the technical watch world. This Ref. 16710 ‘Coke’ in stainless-steel is a prime example of the watch family’s enduring style and everyday practicality.
Launched in 1989 as the second generation of the GMT-Master II model, the watch featured a 40mm steel Oyster case with the choice of Pepsi, black, or Coke bezel, as seen here. It’s black dial accented with white gold frames around the luminous hour markers. Materials used to create this lume evolved throughout its 18-year production run. Tritium was used until 1997 (“Swiss T<25”), as seen on this dial which ages in a more attractive way than the later Luminova.
Powered by a COSC certified automatic Caliber 3185/6 movement, this watch remains an accurate and reliable timekeeper for international travellers or for those with interests across time zones.
Secured by its original Oyster stainless-steel bracelet that has retained excellent strength and form within its links, the watch is a handsome and still practical addition to any collection.
This Rolex GMT-Master II is in fantastic condition with its crystal and dial looking almost as new. There are however some small dings to the outer bezel and very light surface scratching to case and bracelet. The original box and papers are not present, but that shouldn’t detract from the quality or allure of this iconic ‘Coke’.
