The model 16610 was debuted in 1989 and produced until 2010, it is considered to be the epitome of the modern era Rolex Submariner.
The 16610 was the first Submariner to feature a sapphire crystal, in addition to white gold applied luminous hour markers on a glossy black dial.
Slimmer lugs found on the 16610 lend the watch a sophisticated profile compared to its slightly bulkier current day predecessor the 116610. The 16610 is one of the last non-maxi dial and aluminium bezel models Rolex produced, being replaced in 2010 by the current Cerachrom bezel iteration. Since it’s discontinuation it is fast becoming an icon in the Submariner date collection.
The watch is powered by Rolex calibre 3135, the brand’s longest serving movement, and same movement still found in the current ceramic models. It also features solid end links, tritium hour markers and sweeping hands and is water-resistant to 1000ft.
This watch is offered in good overall condition, showing usual signs of wear with light scratches found on the bracelet, clasp and case. The watch is complete with box, Rolex guarantee card, booklets, swing tag and service papers.
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
