SUMMARY

The transitional reference 16550 Explorer II was produced for just four years between 1985 and 1989 and has become a highly collectable and sought-after model amongst enthusiasts and collectors. Introducing a new look to the line, including a white dial variant as we see here, this historically significant model also brought in a new movement with an independent GMT hand which transformed the Explorer II from a ‘spelunking’ or cave explorers watch, into a rugged and handsome travel companion. The tritium hour markers on this example have faded to a warm patina, providing plenty of character and charm. The watch is paired with an Oyster bracelet numbered 93150 with 501 end links.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.

Any watch not covered by a current sales or service warranty should be considered as potentially requiring a service, even if in full working order on the date of purchase.
