SUMMARY
Known as a transitional reference, the 16750 GMT-Master was first introduced in 1980 and was only in production for a short period of around seven years. Following a 20-year run of the reference 1675, several modern upgrades were implemented, making this model an interesting blend of vintage and modern elements.
In terms of technical enhancements, a new movement was introduced. The calibre 3075 saw an increased beat rate to 28,800 vibrations per hour - in line with modern standards and commonly seen in movements today. Water resistance was also increased from 50 to 100 metres giving the watch more utility. Aesthetically, glossy dials replaced matte ones during the 16750’s production run, and white gold surrounds were added to the hour markers. These changes are reflected in the example we see here from 1988.
