Offered by a private collector, this Rolex Day-Date from 1988 is being auctioned along with its box, service pouch and guarantee. As indicated by the service pouch, the watch has been serviced during its lifetime and is offered with the factory sticker still on the caseback. Its condition falls within the bounds of the seller’s ‘A’ grading.

Typically characterised by its three-link metal bracelet, fluted bezel, day and date complication, and use of precious metal, it didn’t take long for the Rolex Day-Date to become a cultural superstar. The 18038 reference first came on the scene in 1977 and brought with it some impactful evolutions for this important model. Firstly, thanks to the Rolex 3055 movement, the 18038 features a quick set function for the date window. This reference was also the first time the model to be fitted with a sapphire crystal, increasing its scratch resistance.

The Rolex Day-Date has remained in history as the ‘President’ watch, and it is arguably the most iconic watch from the brand’s illustrious history. The yellow gold construction, President bracelet and 36mm case have helped it become instantly recognisable and become a horological status icon.
