Sell it with usThe Rolex Sea-Dweller was originally designed to meet the needs of professional divers descending to great depths. First offered for sale in 1967, Rolex took its regular Submariner watch as a base and then introduced technical updates, including fitting a helium escape valve. Thanks to a thicker profile crystal and a reinforced case, the Sea-Dweller was rated to a depth of 610 meters (2000 feet). The watch is powered by the Chronometer-certified calibre 1570 movement with a 48-hour power reserve. This 1981 example (serial 6,752,xxx) is known among collectors as the ‘Great White’ due to its four lines of white dial text. The dial has tritium plots on the indices and hands and a date aperture at 3 o’clock.
This example shows signs of wear commensurate with age. The bezel insert has some fading and visible marks and there’s a scratch on the crystal at 2 o’clock. The bezel pip is still present. The tritium plots on the dial and hands have aged attractively and consistently. The watch is accompanied by a retailer’s green presentation box, business card and a sales receipt (from December 2017).
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
