- One of the key watches in Rolex’s history, the Submariner “Red” takes its nickname from the red “Submariner” text above six o’clock on the dial; later versions of Rolex’s iconic diver have their “Submariner” wording finished in white
- Manufactured from approximately 1967 - 1975, the “Red” was the first Rolex Submariner to be fitted with a date function and feature and an acrylic crystal
- Over the last four decades, the watch’s tritium-filled hour markers have developed a tropical hue patina, whilst the collectors’ favourite aluminium bezel affords the reference a stylish, understated appearance seldom found on post-2008 versions of Rolex’s eponymous dive watch
- Offered by a trade vendor in the United Kingdom
- The watch is presented with a period Rolex-branded display box, outer sleeve and booklets
- A full service was carried out on the watch by a Rolex Service Centre in 2012, and proof of this service is included with the lot
- Service Centre protective stickers are still fitted to the watch’s caseback and flanks
- Graded as ‘Vintage’ for condition with the vendor reporting the watch to be in good working order
All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
Any watch not covered by a current sales or service warranty should be considered as potentially requiring a service, even if in full working order on the date of purchase.
