SUMMARY

For many Rolex collectors, the ref. 5513 is the Submariner to have. It’s not the rarest – in fact it is among the longest continually produced series in Rolex’s history, having been in production from 1962 until 1989. But it’s for that reason alone, it is considered to be the epitome of the classic dive watch. Sold alongside the ref. 5512, the 5513 lacks chronometer certification, but cosmetically, the ‘two line’ dial has a cleaner and more symmetrical look without the additional text.

This example from 1970 is presented on an Oyster bracelet numbered 9315 with 380 end links. Both the bracelet and the case show signs of wear and refinishing. The dial appears to have been replaced at service at some stage based on its gloss finish and white gold surrounds on the hour markers which are not consistent with the watch’s age.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.
