• One of the key watches in Rolex’s history, the Submariner “Red” takes its nickname from the red “Submariner” text above six o’clock on the dial; later versions of Rolex’s iconic diver have their “Submariner” wording finished in white
• Manufactured from approximately 1967 - 1975, the “Red” reference 1680 was the first Rolex Submariner to offer a date function and feature and an acrylic crystal
• This 1969 piece is offered by a private collector in the United Kingdom
• The watch is presented with a Rolex display box purchased in 2002, and the following paperwork: authenticity certificate from Rolex UK dated 2001; new bezel insert receipt dated 2001; Rolex presentation box receipt dated 2002; latest service receipt dated 2013 from independent watchmaker, Russell Talerman
• Now in its sixth decade, the watch’s case and bracelet have some signs of wear commensurate with its age
• Graded as ‘Vintage’ with the vendor reporting the watch to be in good working order
