ABOUT THIS WATCH
- The Patek Philippe ref. 5172G was launched at Baselworld 2019, replacing the outgoing ref. 5170
- This handsome and classically-styled watch takes cues from vintage references and is brimming with interesting design flourishes
- What jumps out immediately are the stepped lugs and intricate fluting on the pump-style pushers, delivering plenty of personality and a handsome aesthetic
- Despite these more traditional touches, Patek has taken a more casual and sporty approach to the dial design, with large lume-filled white gold hands and indices that jump off the dial
- Flipping the case over, we’re greeted with the calibre CH 29-535 PS
- This manually-wound chronograph consists of 270 intricately interwoven components
- Underpinning this impressive architecture are no less than six patents, driving home the Swiss manufacturer’s expertise in chronograph movement development
- From a functional standpoint, there’s an instantaneous 30-minute timer and a generous 65-hour power reserve
- Matching the dial's rich blue hue is a blue leather strap with contrast stitching, paired to a white gold deployant clasp
