Sell it with usReady to be auctioned through a private collector, this 2022 Cartier Santos Chronograph is presented as a full set. It’s accompanied by a display box and outer packaging, plus all paperwork including the user manual, and proof of Cartier’s 24-month warranty. As part of the set, the owner has also included a factory black leather strap, plus a strap-changing tool. The vendor advises the watch is in ‘as new’ condition and has graded it ‘AAA’. The images appear consistent with that assessment, showing no signs of wear on the case or strap.
Finished in a blend of hardy ADLC (Amorphous Diamond-Like Carbon) and stainless steel, this 2022 Cartier Santos chronograph measures a significant 43.3mm in diameter with a thickness of 12.4mm. Immediately recognisable as a Cartier Santos thanks to its square case, the watch is given a contemporary aesthetic thanks to a black, ADLC bezel, which surrounds a white dial featuring chronograph complications denoting minutes, hours, and seconds at three, six, and nine o’clock respectively. In relation to the dial, Cartier faithful will be pleased to know that it retains the Santos family’s traditional Roman numerals, black outer track, and sword-shaped hands. Like all Cartier Santos references, the watch is also fitted with a seven-sided crown positioned at three o’clock. A matching black rubber strap is attached and fitted with Cartier’s “Quick Switch” mechanism that allows the wearer to change the strap without the need for tools.
Beneath the screw-down stainless steel case is Cartier’s 1904-CH MC calibre, which was introduced in 2012. This automatic chronograph has a power reserve of up to 48 hours, and this versatile and reliable movement is the driving force behind several of Cartier’s references.
The Cartier Santos was originally introduced at the start of the 20th century as a pilot’s watch, yet has constantly evolved to suit different tastes and styles over the years. The chronograph references were launched in the early 2000s, and have since become a staple of the Santos line.
