Sell it with usNumbered 22 of just 88 examples and presented as a full-set, this 2021 Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider is being auctioned through a Gibraltar-based trade vendor. The watch is supplied with its display box with an outer sleeve and warranty card. Further additions to the set include a certificate of origin, plus a sealed instruction manual. The vendor advises the watch is unworn and free of any marks or swirls. Therefore it fits within the bounds of the seller’s ‘AAA’ grading.
Finished in a tasteful bi-metal blend of rose gold and titanium, this Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider is a feast of visual intrigue. The skeleton dial is characterised by its star-shaped bridge, and is housed within the reference’s 45mm rose gold case. The bezel - fashioned from titanium - is notched in line with the reference’s trademark design and is stylishly offset by rose gold lugs. Further contrasting rose gold elements include the tips of the hands, and the inner surrounding ring of the dial. The watch is fitted with a bi-material strap crafted from grey calf leather and rubber and comes fitted with a black titanium Quick Release System (QRS) clasp.
The sapphire crystal on the case back offers another perspective on the Roger Dubuis RD820SQ hand-skeletonised calibre. This automatic movement has been certified by the Poinçon de Genève - one of the highest certifications in the world of Haute Horlogerie - and has a power reserve of up to 60 hours. The calibre comprises 166 components and beats to a frequency of 28,800 v/ph.
Since its foundation in 1995, Roger Dubuis timepieces have been characterised by their bold, striking designs and fine movements which are synonymous with high-end craftsmanship. This reference is one of only 88 Excalibur Spider watches produced by the boutique watchmaker.
