Sell it with usOffered by a UK-based collector, this 2020 Patek Philippe World Time will be auctioned with its lacquered wooden display box, certificate of origin, certificate of authenticity, collectors’ library booklet, and its owner’s manual. As part of the set, the vendor has also included the swing tag. The watch wears some light hairline wear marks on its bezel, rear casing, and clasp. Nonetheless, the watch is reported to be in good working order, and the images and information provided appear consistent with the seller’s ‘A’ grading.
Finished in 18K yellow gold, the case of this 2020 Patek Philippe World Time measures 38.5mm in diameter; a relatively small size for a world timer watch. Very much a traditional Patek Philippe thanks to its classically-designed case, the reference is as much a work of art as it is a high-end travel companion. The white enamel cloisonné dial is characterised by a vibrantly hand-painted centre depicting Europe, Africa, and the Americas. This painting provides the watch with a sense of depth and character and is surrounded by a two-tone outer ring denoting day or night and the time in the wearer’s secondary timezone of choice.
The watch is paired with a factory brown alligator strap which is secured to the wrist via an 18K yellow gold deployant clasp with the Calatrava Cross motif.
Housed inside the case is the calibre 240 HU. On display through the exhibition case back, this elaborately decorated movement features Côtes de Genève on the bridges and perlage beneath the yellow gold micro-rotor. The power reserve is rated at 48 hours.
The history of the Patek Philippe World Time can be traced back to the 1930s, when international travel remained a luxury for the very few. The line was revived in the 2000s, and the World Time has garnered a deserved reputation for being an imaginatively-designed luxury travel companion of outstanding quality and finish.
